RAILWAY TERMINAL

Arken Kombiterminal.

Arken Kombiterminal is a 65,000 square meter terminal area adjacent to the port's container and roro terminals. At the terminal, containers or trailers are transhipped between ships, trains and trucks for further transport into the country or out into the world. The facility is electrified. With its seven rail tracks and a total track length of 3,360 meters, the terminal is primarily focused on handling rail traffic. The terminal can handle 90,000 units per year.

100 fewer trucks per day in the city centre.

Arken Kombiterminal was put into operation at the turn of the year 2017/2018 and replaced an earlier terminal in Gullbersvass in central Gothenburg. The relocation has brought great advantages in the form of higher capacity, a better geographical location in relation to the industry and a better adapted road infrastructure to and from the terminal. With the move, around 100 trucks a day could be moved from the central city, which led to both shorter queues and less emissions in the area.

We connect the whole of Sweden with the whole world.

Over the past 20 years, we have built an efficient rail system with daily container and rail transfers between the port and inland terminals throughout Sweden and Norway. Transportation by rail is a sustainable, cost-effective and long-term solution that ensures that large volumes of goods can reach end customers quickly and efficiently.

In the long term, the share of container traffic by rail has increased from 20% to 60% since the investment in rail was started over 20 years ago, a share that few other international major ports have been able to reach.
