From Dalarna to global markets by rail and sea
Trains will initially depart every other Monday, carrying 44 forty-foot containers per departure. Developed by TFK Logistics, the service allows for more departures as demand grows.
“We want to transport as much as possible by rail, so it feels very good to be back at the Port of Gothenburg. TFK Logistics has developed an affordable and flexible solution that suits our needs and is also open to other businesses in the region,” says Joakim Limberg, CEO of Fiskarheden.
The rail service demonstrates how Railport Scandinavia connects inland businesses with the Port of Gothenburg and markets around the world.
“Fiskarheden choosing rail transport to the Port of Gothenburg again is a great example of what Railport Scandinavia can offer. Rail gives inland exporters efficient access to international shipping,” says Richard Mellgren, Senior Business Development Manager at the Port of Gothenburg.
Imports to Dalarna could keep trains loaded in both directions
In addition to exporting timber, Fiskarheden sees opportunities to fill containers with imports on the journey from Gothenburg to Dalarna. This would enable more businesses in the region to use the service.
“We are in dialogue with businesses in the region about transport in both directions. This would make the solution even more valuable to the local business community,” says Joakim Limberg.
