What does the new rail shuttle between Helsingborg and Gothenburg mean?
The new shuttle, owned by APM Terminals and operated by Dania Connect, transports containers between Helsingborg and the Port of Gothenburg in approximately five hours. The service started in February 2026 with one weekly departure, with plans to scale up to three departures in the near future.
– By launching our own rail shuttle, we aim to create business value for importers and exporters in the Helsingborg region. We are already seeing strong interest from both shipping lines and cargo owners in the surrounding area, says Mathias Weismann Poulsen, Chief Commercial Officer at APM Terminals Nordic.
The initiative provides companies with freight to and from the region with a more efficient and predictable transport solution to Sweden’s largest container port.

The Port of Gothenburg is already connected to nearly 30 locations across Sweden via rail. In 2025, 529,000 TEU were transported to and from the port by rail, the highest figure ever recorded.
