Port of Gothenburg and Castellum build new logistics property for Vink Essåplast Group AB at Halvorsäng
Port of Gothenburg AB and Castellum continue the development of Halvorsäng Logistics Park, one of Sweden’s most strategically located logistics areas. A new logistics building of 8,667 square metres is now being constructed, with Vink Essåplast Group AB leasing half of the space for its long term establishment in direct proximity to the largest port in the Nordic region.
The project is carried out within the framework of the jointly owned company through which Port of Gothenburg and Castellum develop Halvorsäng. The area is rapidly emerging as a hub for efficient logistics with close access to maritime transport, rail and road infrastructure.
“With direct access to the Port of Gothenburg and the most comprehensive sea and inland transport network in the Nordic region, Halvorsäng offers something unique in the Swedish logistics market. Its strategic location has led many companies to establish their Nordic distribution centres in the surrounding area.”
- Jill Söderwall, Head of Business Area at Port of Gothenburg AB.
10 year lease agreement and occupancy in 2026
Vink Essåplast Group AB’s establishment includes a ten year lease agreement with preliminary occupancy on 1 September 2026. The property is a new build within Halvorsäng Logistics Park, located very close to the quays of the Port of Gothenburg and offering extremely short distances between the port and warehouse facilities.
“For us, Halvorsäng is the right location. The new facility provides modern conditions to continue growing, streamline our flows and develop the business long term. Proximity to the Port of Gothenburg offers a clear advantage for both us and our customers.”
- Reijo Antero Asikainen, CEO of Vink Essåplast Group AB.
Vink Essåplast Group AB is a leading wholesaler of plastic semi finished products and plastic articles, serving customers across several industrial segments in the Nordic region.
Halvorsäng offers a prime logistics location next to the Port of Gothenburg
Halvorsäng Logistics Park is jointly developed by Castellum and Port of Gothenburg AB and is strategically located directly north of Skarvik Harbour. The area has direct access to Road 155, Hisingsleden and the national rail network, creating efficient flows to and from the Port of Gothenburg, which offers the largest global liner network in the Nordic region by sea, as well as road and rail connections linking all of Scandinavia to the port.
“Vink’s decision to establish at Halvorsäng strengthens both the development of the area and our joint investment with the Port of Gothenburg. Halvorsäng is now clearly taking shape as a modern logistics area close to the port and key transport routes.”
- Örjan Rystedt, Regional CEO for Castellum West.
When fully developed, Halvorsäng will comprise approximately 145,000 square metres of logistics space across several buildings, some with ceiling heights of up to 35 metres. The high load bearing capacity and flexible design enable efficient warehousing and future adaptation.
Energy efficient buildings and efficient transport flows
The new building for Vink Essåplast Group AB will be environmentally certified in accordance with Miljöbyggnad Silver and forms part of a broader investment in energy efficient and resource efficient logistics properties in a port adjacent location.
Halvorsäng already offers infrastructure such as a truck stop, secure overnight parking for heavy vehicles and the ability to charge battery electric trucks. The area is also prepared for future energy solutions, strengthening the conditions for efficient and competitive logistics chains.
Once Halvorsäng Logistics Park is completed, the area is expected to accommodate approximately 600 to 700 jobs and play an important role in the development of Gothenburg as Scandinavia’s leading logistics hub.
