In 2012, the Port of Gothenburg launched their first Chinese website. At that point, this was the first Swedish port website in Chinese. Now the website has been upgraded with a more user-friendly model, which fit in both web browsers and mobile screens.
The biggest change is that the website is responsive, or mobile-friendly, which means that the appearance is adapted to your screen size, regardless of whether you are surfing on a mobile phone, computer or tablet.
— China is such an important trading partner for us and we need to enhance our awareness among potential clients there. The objective with the development of the website is to make it easier for the Chinese customers to find the information they need, says Cecilia Carlsson, Vice President Communications at the Port of Gothenburg.

The port in WeChat
The port has also intensified its presence on WeChat, the biggest social media application in China where the Port of Gothenburg has been present for a couple of years. The audience can now expect weekly news updates from the port on WeChat.

Fact file: Maritime trade between China and Sweden
The maritime trade between Sweden and China has a long history. The first direct trade link between the countries was established back in 1731. Today there are a weekly direct service from Gothenburg to China and Far East countries.
Since 2003, China has been becoming one of the most important trading partners for Sweden. As the largest port in Scandinavia, it will be one of the main priorities for the Port of Gothenburg to open a bigger window to Chinese market and to establish better service to Chinese clients in future.
According to the latest statistics 2016, 33% of total import and export volume through the Port are with the Far East Asia countries, in which 38% of import volume and 28% export volume.
