Being the Green Connection is all about taking responsibility. Acknowledging that climate change is a deadly threat to the world. And taking action. Our strategy to reduce our carbon footprint has two major aims, the shift to a fossil-free logistics chain and to push society’s transition to tomorrow’s energy sources. 

Fossil-free logistics. We work hard to improve all parts of the port, from electrifying our port operations to building infrastructure for captured carbon dioxide. We follow an ambitious plan, based on scientific research and vast experience of implementing new technology. We have initiated projects with real impact to transform our carbon footprint both on land and at sea. Some of the projects of which we are proud, include TranZero initiative, CinfraCap, Green Cable and Green Corridor. We drive the efforts of making the entire logistics chain significantly more sustainable, through collaborations with ports, shipping companies and other partners. We are also a firm advocate of change in international maritime- and port associations and other policy making committees. 

Future energies. Perhaps the biggest challenge we face today is the transition from a fossil-fueled society to one that runs on sustainable energy sources. It’s a gargantuan task that affects almost everything everywhere and that requires immense effort from all parts of society – science, business and politics. As the largest energy port in Scandinavia, we push the development by investing heavily in support of tomorrow’s energy solutions and the transition to green energy. 

That’s how we are reducing our CO2 emissions by 70% until 2030.
