About Gothenburg Port Authority

The primary task of Gothenburg Port Authority is to reinforce industry, both locally and nationally, and to put Nordic industry at a competitive advantage. By maintaining, developing and marketing the entire port, we create the conditions for supporting a strong, efficient and sustainable freight hub.

Our primary task at Gothenburg Port Authority is to maintain land areas, quays and other infrastructure at the port and to build new facilities to keep pace with development. We are also responsible for ensuring that calls by vessels are as safe, efficient and environmentally sound as possible. The Authority is also charged with the task of communicating the opportunities available at the Port of Gothenburg in order to encourage more import and export companies to make use of our worldwide range of services.

The actual handling of freight – the loading and unloading of ships – is dealt with by specialised terminal operators.

When working at Gothenburg Port Authority you spend a lot of time outdoors, in the port area.

Proud employees
The Port of Gothenburg has a history that dates back 400 years and it has adopted an equally long-term perspective for the future. Being involved in developing the largest port in Scandinavia is a source of pride among our employees. There are currently 120 staff.

Our vision is to be the obvious freight hub for sea transport in Scandinavia.

Completely self-financed
Gothenburg Port Authority is completely self-financed. The Authority does not receive any financial support from the owner, the City of Gothenburg.
