TIMBER, PAPER OR PULP?
We have listened carefully to the Swedish forestry industry and developed our services accordingly. All terminals for the transshipment of forest products are close to our port terminals for intra-European and global traffic. Thanks to the fact that we are the largest port in Scandinavia we always have good access to empty load carriers – containers, cassettes, trailers and platforms. This means that goods are never left standing at the quayside and they can be shipped off quickly to the intended market.
New opportunities for timber exports
Beside the ro-ro and container terminals there is a completely new terminal for the transshipment of timber – Arken South, operated by Sören Thyr AB.
Also, inside the port's ro-ro terminal, timber can be transshipped in the weatherproofed Paper Logistic Centre.
In Gothenburg there is also another transshipment terminal for timber close to the central station – Gothenburg North, operated by Green Cargo.
Next year and in the years to come, further areas are planned for weatherproofed transshipment areas and terminals.
WE SORT THE TIMBER
The new transshipment terminals, in combination with our rail solutions, provide access to an extensive range of services regardless of where in Scandinavia the sawmill is located. When the timber arrives in Gothenburg, we will handle the sorting for the different markets as well as shipping to different parts of the world This reduces stock volumes and save both time and money.
Secure choice for the export of paper and pulp
We are Sweden's largest paper port and we have long relationships with several of the country's largest paper exporters. Our task is to contribute with a logistics arrangement that is as efficient as possible.
Just beside the Port there are four modern terminals for the transshipment of paper.
PAPER LOGISTIC CENTER AT THE RO-RO TERMINAL
At the quayside at the Gothenburg Roroterminal there is the 14,000 square metre weatherproofed Paper Logistic Centre (PLC), where paper is loaded directly onto and from rail trucks. Cross-docking is also offered, where the load is split and divided among one or more other carriers, depending on the destination of the goods.
DOUBLE RAIL TRACK AT NTEX
At Arendal, close to the port, there is the NTEX Terminal, which comprises 23,000 square metres of weatherproofed space. Here there is a double rail track, one of which is inside the building. The terminal has the capacity for at least four changes per day and transships large volumes of paper and pulp.
NEW TERMINAL IN THE HEART OF THE PORT
A further track-linked terminal, run by Mimab, has commenced transshipment operations close to the Container Terminal.
GOTHENBURG NORTH – RELOADING AT THE CENTRAL STATION
The Gothenburg North terminal, operated by Green Cargo, tranships large volumes of paper and pulp, which are then transported to various parts of the world.
