The Port of Gothenburg is much more than a port. We are Sweden's largest freight hub and, on account of our unique location and tremendous capacity, we play a key role in Swedish exports to the rest of the world. We are now making huge investments in order to be able to offer even smarter and more efficient transport routes for Swedish forest products.

This is where the shipping companies are competing

From the Container Terminal at the Port of Gothenburg you can reach all the markets of the world quickly and conveniently. This is where many shipping companies are competing for your freight.

It is Sweden's only terminal that has the capacity to receive the large deep-sea vessels that service direct routes worldwide. There is also frequent feeder traffic to the continent where your products are rapidly transshipped for onward transport to your export market.

The Container Terminal, APM Terminals, is now investing heavily to bring the handling of forest products to a new level. Ultra-modern rail-mounted cranes and longer tracks that will increase capacity substantially are already in place. Not to mention the largest container cranes in Scandinavia.

Frequent European traffic

The Port of Gothenburg has three ro-ro terminals specialising in European traffic.

There are daily departures from the port, allowing you to rapidly and efficiently transport your forest products to a range of destinations in the United Kingdom and on the continent.

The terminals unload and load all types of unitised rolling goods as well as containers and goods in cassettes. The ro-ro terminals are also linked to the rail system with tracks running directly to the quayside.

  • Roro  almost 80 departures each week. The terminals are operated by Gothenburg Roro Terminal, Stena Line and Logent Ports & Terminals.
  • Container – the Port of Gothenburg handles around 850,000 TEU per year. Several shipping companies use the terminal with around 20 calls each week. The terminal is operated by APM Terminals Gothenburg.
  • Rail – 70 or so trains arrive and depart from the port each day, both within the rail system Railport Scandinavia and partly as conventional container trains.
  • With 100 calls by vessels each week we are the port for the whole of Scandinavia.
