Arrival and vessel registration

All vessels due to arrive in the Gothenburg port area must be reported to our traffic information central Port Control. The Port of Gothenburg provides agents and shipping lines with the opportunity to deal with this simply and electronically via Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS).

Gothenburg Approach

Faster, simpler arrival of vessels. This is the aim of a new collaborative initiative between the Swedish Maritime Administration and the Port of Gothenburg. The initiative will benefit customers and will promote safe, sustainable shipping through the adoption of effective processes and an innovative mode of operation.

Port Tariff

All vessels that put into the Port of Gothenburg pay a port charge. The amount depends on the load capacity. The Port of Gothenburg applies an environmentally differentiated port charge, which means that vessels that offer good environmental performance receive a discount.

Rules, permits and emergency situations

To carry out certain work within the port area, a permit application must be submitted. Here you will find the necessary forms. Waste

The terminals in the Port of Gothenburg receive all waste that a vessel needs to leave ashore and which has arisen as a result of normal operations on board the vessel. Waste handling is included in the port charge. To hand over waste, notification must be made in VTMS no later than 24 hours before arrival.
